Experience stays. SAP capability moves forward.
My 2003–2004 consultant training at Siemens Business Services was based on R/3: Solution Consultant mySAP SCM, procurement focus, with MM, PP and SD. Procurement, logistics, ERP project work and international operations provide the practical context. Moving to S/4HANA is a focused update of that existing qualification. The learning path, current system practice and certification target are being assessed.

The move to S/4HANA makes current system knowledge, practical exercises and new evidence relevant. My R/3 training dates back more than 20 years.

Goal: process-oriented SAP roles in an employer team. A further perspective is practical teaching for training providers after updating my expertise.

Current market context · Sources checked 5 October 2026
A changing ERP landscape
SAP states that mainstream maintenance for defined Business Suite 7 core applications ends in 2027, with optional extended maintenance through 2030. This is a maintenance timetable, not a statutory obligation to migrate.
SAP · Maintenance strategyS/4HANA investment activity
In the DSAG Investment Report 2026, 42% of respondents plan high or medium investment in S/4HANA on-premises. The survey describes investment intentions among participating SAP user organisations, not job vacancies.
DSAG · Investment Report 2026Demand with a realistic perspective
Bitkom reports around 79,000 unfilled IT positions in Germany in September 2026, down from 109,000 in 2025. This covers the wider IT market and is not a count of SAP consultant vacancies.
Bitkom · IT labour market 2026My interpretation: procurement, commissioning, maintenance, quality and team enablement provide relevant operational context for process-oriented SAP work. Current S/4HANA practice is the planned bridge. Specific role fit must be established through job requirements and employer feedback.
I bring the processes behind the system.
I know the operations a system needs to support: procurement, material flow, production ramp-up, maintenance, quality and handover. I connect that understanding with my SAP consultant qualification and practical knowledge transfer.
Start with the operation
Understand equipment, material needs, workflows and risks on site. Translate these into practical process and system requirements.
Connect the interfaces
Connect procurement, materials, production, maintenance and finance in a shared process view.
Make knowledge usable
Demonstrate workflows, prepare clear material and help people apply and pass on standards. Train-the-trainer as a knowledge-transfer principle.
I connect technical practice, processes and people.
My career has taken me from technical work and firefighting through procurement and international projects to country operations, offshore commissioning and campus operations. More than 30 years across Europe, Asia and North and Central America have shaped how I work: understand the reality on site, take ownership and provide direction under pressure.
At IVM I developed procurement, logistics and project structures. At Crown Thailand I helped build sales, service and distribution and led the country operation. Offshore work added safety-critical assets, QA/QC and complex handovers; GESS added leadership of technical and service teams. GROB connects this experience with automotive production ramp-up and troubleshooting.
I see leadership as a team effort: listen, recognise strengths, connect specialists and give them room to take responsibility. My intensive SAP consultant training and ERP project practice complement that industrial foundation. Current S/4HANA qualification will help me translate operational needs into integrated digital processes.

What practical contribution do I bring to your team?
Connect international interfaces
More than 30 years across procurement, service, offshore, campus operations and production ramp-up help me understand different specialist perspectives and translate requirements between teams.
Provide direction under time and quality pressure
I coordinate teams, suppliers and inspection bodies, address risks openly and make priorities and decisions clear. My RigFleet reference also describes calmness under pressure.
Translate practice into system requirements
ERP/AS400 work at Crown, ERP and QMS work at Masstrans, and digital campus workflows connect operational practice with system thinking: what must the process achieve, who uses it and what information is needed?
Connect SAP qualification with operational practice
My R/3 consultant qualification complements experience with materials, spares, maintenance, production and quality. Current S/4HANA system practice is the planned upgrade for process-oriented SAP work.
Embed knowledge and ownership in the team
I work with people on site, demonstrate standards practically and support implementation. Seminar material and staff training at IVM, plus onboarding at Crown and GESS, provide examples.

What shapes me across industries and roles?
Different industries. Same operating DNA.
My operating DNA describes my attitude: take responsibility, stay calm and include people as part of the solution. Youth fire service, competitive sport, technical training and professional firefighting shaped that foundation. It has stayed with me throughout my international work.
- Fire service: safety, discipline and coordinated action.
- Competitive sport: commitment, teamwork and learning from feedback.
- Technical practice: look closely, understand causes and take responsibility.
How do I work with people and demanding tasks?
Understand. Clarify ownership. Help people deliver.
I first clarify the task, the situation on site and the people involved. We then agree priorities, ownership and next steps. I listen, connect specialists and keep decisions, risks and open points traceable. The following six working practices describe my approach to everyday project work.
“Bring specialists together. Build trust. Give people room. Deliver together.”
Ownership through handover
Clarify tasks, priorities and owners. Follow up open points and document handover. Applied in offshore commissioning and production ramp-up at GROB.
Protect safety and quality
Check technical condition and specifications, document deviations and follow actions through. Experience with audits, QA/QC, punch lists, NCRs and inspection bodies.
Build teams with empathy
Listen, recognise strengths and give specialists room to contribute. Built sales, service and operations teams at Crown; led 17 technical and service specialists at GESS.
Calm clarity under pressure
Communicate clearly across management, engineering, suppliers and teams. Address risks and next steps openly. Multinational offshore projects shaped this leadership style.
Solve problems on site
Understand equipment and workflows directly, investigate causes with specialists and develop practical solutions. Commissioning and troubleshooting remain important parts of my work.
Embed standards together
Connect technical, commercial and human needs. Develop processes with teams, train them practically and embed them in manuals, ownership and daily routines.
How do I develop an operational process?
From real operations to usable structure: each step produces a concrete working output. The sequence describes my approach; applying it in current S/4HANA systems is the next qualification step.
Output: shared understanding of the asset, task and workflow.
Output: prioritised actions with named owners.
Output: an agreed workflow with clear handovers.
Output: understandable guidance and practical application.
Output: a documented target process; S/4HANA mapping envisaged after qualification.
Building capability, not dependency.
Build capability. Pass on responsibility.
At IVM, my work included staff training, independently prepared seminar material and supporting apprentices and interns. At Crown and GESS, I combined team development with personal onboarding, practical demonstration and everyday standards. I want to share this experience in professional education as well. My principle: explain clearly, apply practically and enable people to work independently.
